Planning appeal success!

I have blogged previously about the relentless nature of developers in resubmitting planning applications. The example in that post was Chessing Court on Fortis Green, where (despite a previous rejection from the council) plans were again put in to add an extra floor on the top of the building - which is already the tallest in the area.

Good news this morning as I got a letter from the Planning Inspectorate with the result of the appeal - it has been dismissed. The inspector agreed with objections from me, local residents and local MP Lynne Featherstone (who is specifically named in the appeal decision) that an extra floor on Chessing Court was unacceptable.

Unfortunately, there is another site which has been subject to lots of planning applications and is currently at risk - the land at 85-87 Woodside Avenue, which is at the rear of Lauradale Road next to the Fortis Green Community Allotments and opposite Tetherdown Primary School. Along with residents, Lynne and my ward colleagues I have fought against several planning applications on this site over the years.

Original plans for cramming eight houses onto the land were rejected and we defeated revised plans at an appeal, with a public hearing. Eventually one half of the site was built on, with just one house. The current plans are for another three houses on the other half. This hasn't been decided by the council yet and we are working hard to stop it.
